Teaching Statement / Philosophy
My teaching philosophy as a sculpture professor is grounded in the belief that art transcends cultural and disciplinary boundaries. I emphasize an interdisciplinary approach, encouraging students to explore the connections between art and science, particularly through mathematics and geometry. By engaging with hands-on projects—from cardboard models to advanced 3D printing—I foster experiential learning that enhances technical skills and critical thinking.
Mentorship is a core aspect of my philosophy, as I strive to create an inclusive environment where each student feels valued and empowered. By offering constructive feedback and encouraging open dialogue, I help students develop their unique artistic voices and build confidence in their abilities. I also facilitate collaboration, both among students and with external experts, enriching the learning experience and nurturing a spirit of creativity. Ultimately, my goal is to guide students on their artistic journeys, equipping them with the skills and insights needed to become innovative sculptors.
